John Bernot, MD
Dr. Bernot has 20 years of experience in the healthcare sector with special expertise in health information technology, emphasizing patient engagement, social determinants of health, and healthcare quality. As the Chief Medical Officer at Bravado health, he provides clinical oversight of Bravado’s Ayva platform, which provides evidence-based post-discharge engagement plans that focus on the behaviors necessary for patients to effectively self-manage care. He previously served as the VP of Quality Measurement Initiatives at the National Quality Forum (NQF) where he led numerous programs in health equity, prioritizing quality measurement efforts, measuring quality in health information technology initiatives, and quality measurement endorsement. He has extensive value-based care expertise and previously directed the Measure Applications Partnership Clinician (MAP) Workgroup, which evaluates quality measures for two federal payment programs, the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) and the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). Dr. Bernot also serves as the President of the Paul Bernot Memorial Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering athletes impacted by cancer. He earned his medical degree from Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus and completed his family medicine residency at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem, NC. He currently practices part-time as family physician and adjunct faculty member at Wake Forest Baptist Peace Haven Family Medicine Clinic. Prior to his clinical training, he served as the Vice President of Product Development and Information Technology for the Quality Indicator Project, a subsidiary of the Maryland Hospital Association.
