RT3 – Roundtable #3 – Case Manager Conversations: Strengthening our Voice to Increase Influence in Health Care
In a recent article published in CareManagement, CMSA’s President-elect, Melanie Prince shared the knowledge and skills that case managers will need to be more present and involved in health care, policy development and in general increase our footprint so that we are included in decisions, and sought to advise and consult on matters important to those we serve. Case managers must increase their knowledge and comfort with emerging technologies, embrace life-long learning, forge alliances with other health care professionals, and be present and involved in creation of policy.
- The participant will review how best to connect with peers, colleagues, and the larger case management community for support, inspiration, and mentoring.
- The participant will examine the strategies to improve collaboration with peers and colleagues from different disciplines, physicians, and other health care professionals.
- The participant will be able to name professional growth objectives that will assist in increasing influence. These may include becoming more tech-savvy, learning to lead professional teams, and become experts in social and cultural competencies.
- The participant will examine how communication plays an essential role in improving influence with interprofessional teams and with patient populations.
