PS3 – Bridging the Generation Gap with Effective Communication

PS3 – Bridging the Generation Gap with Effective Communication

Each generation has their own communication style which is influenced by many factors, including leadership styles, conflict resolution styles and expectations of both the employer and employee.  Communication between the generations has become increasingly important and challenging in today’s society. Connecting or the ability to relate to people and increase influence can be hindered if your team does not hear you.  Case Management leaders today need to become aware that the difference in which each generation communicates and connects can impact the success of the team and the goals and mission of the organization. This presentation will discuss how understanding each generations’ values, communication style and life experiences will assist todays case management leaders in improved teamwork, effective communication and decreased conflicts and misunderstanding. This presentation will analyze the issue of poor communication in the workplace through a self-assessment of communication skills and acknowledgement that each generation communicates differently. The presentation will review each generation’s key communication style attributes and how they connect to each other.  The presentation will further discuss how case management leaders can utilize this knowledge to build communication strategies and connections
