4003 – Entrepreneurship: The Less-traveled Road in Case Management

4003 – Entrepreneurship: The Less-traveled Road in Case Management

As Case Managers we have many options of practicing settings in which we can impact patient outcomes and facilitate better quality of life for the populations we serve.  Becoming an independent case manager in the private sector is one such way; but a road less traveled by case managers.  In one case manager survey, only 4 percent of respondents chose “independent/private practice” as their primary work/practice setting.   The purpose of this presentation is to introduce case managers to this option by sharing my story of how I got to this place and what I have learned on this journey. The session is designed as an interactive process between those with an interest in and those who have pursued this career direction as we all strive to make a difference in health care delivery.  It is about obstacles and opportunities and reflections on our career path ….”Two roads diverged in a wood, and I – I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference”.
