Mavis Aguilar, Performance Improvement Coordinator, Trauma Program at Northwell Health Southside Hospital. Responsible for conducting, monitoring and reporting all aspects regarding the Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) plan for the trauma program. Mrs. Aguilar has executed clinical, administrative, quality control and performance improvement roles. She collaborated in two six sigma projects, both of which delivered measurable improvement on patient experience scores for the emergency department, and decreased the thirty day readmission rates for heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients. Mrs. Aguilar was an assistant nurse management in the emergency department where she was responsible for maintaining knowledge of and ensured compliance with all regulatory and professional standards of care, including JCACHO, CMS, IHI, CAP, etc. She developed measures and monitored unit operational performance metrics such as LOS, agency and overtime costs, vacancy and turnover. Also, she was part the team that successfully opened a new emergency department, doubles the size than the prior location and implemented the new split flow patient model, as well as achieving tear two on the employee engagement scores. Mrs. Aguilar is bilingual, emergency nursing competent and currently holds the certifications on BLS, ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, and Six Sigma Green Belt.
