Biography


Chriss Wheeler, RN, MSN, CCM, shares her enthusiasm for advocacy. quality, safety, and cost effective care with positive outcomes for her clients. She brings over 28 years of experience in professional nursing and case management/care coordination. Her acute care background spans from the rural hospital to a metropolitan teaching hospital. She taught at a community college ADN level program and participated in a major curriculum redesign. Chriss’s additional experience in health plan settings brings a well-rounded view of the healthcare industry. One of her leadership role included leading a team in multi-state licensure process and development of competencies onboarding/orientation for care coordinators/case managers. Other areas of expertise relate to worker’s compensation, population health, disease management, utilization review using Milliman Care Guidelines (MCG), wellness coaching, motivational interviewing, she participated in accreditation processes that include; Joint Commission, CARF, URAC, and State Regulations for LTC, National Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) and AQIP.

In June of 2015 her entrepreneurial spirit emerged. Innovative Care Consultants, LLC opened for business. It has been a true privilege to work the various clients across the country. From the individual needing a plan of care to the corporate level in assessing and implementing change for their care/case management departments.

Her passion for public policy is demonstrated through her volunteer services for her professional organizations. She currently serves as Vice Chair of the CMSA national public policy committee and for the local CMSA-KC chapter public policy committee. Chriss was awarded the Case Manager of the year from her local CMSA of Kansas City Chapter in 2016. She also serves as Vice Chair of the West Central Region Missouri Nurses Association.

Chriss utilizes her critical thinking skills and her Gallup strengths which include: strategic, arranger, responsibility, relator and learner to identify the barriers and find solutions for the clients she serves.
