Amy Beckstead, RN, MSN Ed
Amy Beckstead MSN, RN- is a Master’s prepared registered nurse with a diverse clinical background, whose current role is the nurse educator/manager of Regional Centers of Innovation Specialty Care (COI) VA Salt Lake City (SLC) Health Care System. Ms. Beckstead has wide ranging nursing experience from OB/GYN, Cardiology, Perioperative Nursing, Teaching, and Research. Her current emphasis is on comprehensive review of evidence and translation of that evidence it into successful population health-based program models. The value, veracity, and success of these programs has been achieved through strong nursing care coordination. Ms. Beckstead was introduced to care coordination in the national implementation of the Rural Transitions Nursing program, working with local Geriatrician, Dr. Amy Cowan when the program was adapted for rural patients receiving care at VHASLC. Since that time, Ms. Beckstead has received intensive training in care coordination, taking the national Care Coordination and Transitions Management course as well as two-day training course at University of Denver, School of Medicine Sim Learning center on Motivational Interviewing. Ms. Beckstead has a background in research, working in data collection and management, as well as research coordination of multiple national studies.
