SY02 – Dorsal Root Ganglion (DRG) Stimulation: A Superior SCS Therapy for Focal Pain
Dorsal root ganglion (DRG) therapy is a type of neurostimulation therapy with a different type of neural target within the spinal column. Designed to manage difficult-to-treat chronic pain in specific areas of the lower body, such as the foot, knee, hip or groin. In this presentation, Allen Burton, M.D., Medical Director of Abbott Neuromodulation, will discuss how DRG therapy can benefit patients with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) and causalgia, explain the proposed mechanism of action, describe the large and growing body of clinical evidence supporting DRG therapy and the therapy’s application in case management.
1. Define Chronic pain etiology and common injuries leading to chronic pain
2. Assess multidisciplinary approach and cost benefit of team management
3. Identify treatment options including new technologies
