PS1 – Public Policy in Action: The Building Blocks for Healthcare Change
This session focuses on the CMSA 2018- 2019 Public Policy initiative. During the first hour we will examine the CMSA legislative platform and how the Professional Case Management Model Act 2017 can be utilized to develop the role of professional case management in current federal and state legislation. The Professional Case Management Model Act will be reviewed, along with the professional CMSA Standards of Practice for Case Management, revised 2016.
The session focuses on case management legislation for 2019 that will enhance and strengthen the roles and professional development of case managers. Special attention will be paid to the Nurse Licensure Act, The Caregiver Act, The Telehealth Act Federal and State legislation, The Opioid Crisis and the new Opioid Crisis Response Act 2018.
The session closes with education for CMSA members about the role of the Public Policy Liaison and how to develop Public Policy Committee at the chapter level. Speakers will share the tools, education and advocacy skills needed for chapter members to be successful in their own chapter public policy initiative.
