“Live Music Capital of the World”

In 2011, Austin celebrated 20 years of official branding as the Live Music Capital of the World®.  The secret is out. Everyone who visits Austin these days leaves with something great to say. They can’t stop talking about our legendary live music, burgeoning restaurant scene and unique culture. And a list of other things that you just have to experience for yourself to truly understand what makes Austin so Austin. The rest of the country has already taken notice. And it’s time you did, too.

6TH Street

Sixth Street is distinctly Austin. With its colorful and bustling array of barsrestaurants and entertainment venues, it’s a sure bet for experiencing local characters and the vibrancy of the city. Stroll down Austin’s most famous nightlife district on 6th Street for more than a dozen blocks of live music venues including Maggie Mae’s, the Blind Pig and Shakespeare’s Pub.

2ND Street

Keep things local at some of Austin’s newest retail shops and boutiques in the 2nd Street District.  Officially spanning the length of 2nd Street between Congress Avenue and San Antonio streets, this area is home to local and national brands, ranging from beauty, body and abode, to restaurants and overnight respites. Don your favorite reusable tote and wear shoes meant for strolling.

Warehouse District

As the name suggests, many of this neighborhood’s bars and restaurants are housed in renovated, antique warehouses. The gritty backdrop makes for a vibrant scene that draws a diverse crowd thanks to its range of live entertainment, restaurants, LGBT scene and unique shops.

Austin is a hub for creativity. Not only are we home to some world-class museums like the Blanton Museum of Art, with the nation’s largest University-owned collection on exhibit, and the Harry Ransom Center, featuring the First Photograph and the Gutenberg Bible, we’re also home to plenty of artists themselves. You can explore the work of designers, painters, sculptors, writers, photographers, filmmakers, dancers and musicians here at any time of year, any day of the week, in a variety of venues.

Long Beach Weather

Years ago when people talked about Austin they would quickly mention the music. But that’s just the beginning of what they’re saying these days. Austin is also home to a wonderful ballet, world-class museums, one-of-a-kind shopping and beautiful outdoor spaces. You can just as easily spend your morning paddling the lake as you can strolling through a celebrated history museum. And it’s okay if you don’t have time to fit it all in, you can just come back and visit us again.
